Well, at long last I've managed to get a bit of spare time to get back on with the aluminium dash I was making for my "Modsports" Cobra. I Trial fitted it into the car today, and it looks way better than the one that was in there before. The switchgear resting on the transmission tunnel is going to be fitted to the "drop down" part of the dash. I'm undecided whether to leave it in raw brushed aluminium or paint it satin black like the rest of the interior, I don't fancy a leather finish like they had back in the day.

Re: aluminium dash
Hello, thats a great looking dash u made there!! i would leave it alloy. mine ist stainless steal circles, but just follow your heart
Re: aluminium dash
Nige, remember that in Modsports anything goes.
So a raw Ali dash would be more than acceptable. Also helps to kid others that the whole car is made the same.

By the way I thought you were meant to be getting on with finishing other jobs to start the big project. Or is this just practising?
Based on the photos of this I can see a queue forming for Ali parts.

Re: aluminium dash
This is something that's been on the cards for quite some time, as the dash in the car was really horrible and it irritated me every time I got in it. I'm going to make one for Owains car and I've promised one to another club member for his FIA, so I guess this was a good practice run. . A few people have said to leave it raw ali to show what I've done, but to be honest, thats not what this is really about. It's far more important to look right and pleasing to "my eyes". It was always going to be black, but having trial fitted it, it does add a nice contrast to the cars interior. I need to think about this.........

Hello, this looks fantastic! Great job!
I like the look of the ali but however would paint it black.

I can't see any of the pics
Re: aluminium dash
Oh no, needs another toss of the coin for decision making.
I thought it was only me with a middle name of prevarication.

Re: aluminium dash
All down to personal choice Nige. I like the aluminium, and I like the black, but I would be concerned about glare from the ali.
Cheers, Clive.

Re: aluminium dash
There wouldn't be any glare Clive as I don't intend to run it without the roof, which is smooth on the inside and painted aluminium colour, so it would tie in with that. At the moment I'm thinking raw ali and then paint it satin black if I get bored with it or don't like it.
