Wanted - Rover radiator

Post by peterc »

WANTED - Hawk style radiator for Rover V8.
I know it’s not an SD1 or MGB V8 design.
Has anyone swopped their Rover for a Ford and has a Rover rad left over.
Obviously needs to be in good leak free condition.

hi Peter
if you still have your old radiator... i had mine rebuilt by company below. Uprated core and they also brazed a couple of brackets and installed my 2 mishimoto fans to replace the original single. Looks like new and excellent quality job and not too expensive. i think they have other branch in Leicester(?). Advantage was i knew it would fit and no modding mounting holes or connections.

I've used a radiator like this.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-TALL-RA ... SwKtlWs0ln
4 core.
You can tweak the design to your needs, ie position of inlet and outlet, filler neck or not.
It just fits between the Hawk chassis rails.

Thanks guys.
I have found a radiator repair shop so might talk to them first.
As Stu says at least you know connections are in the right place.
Thanks for the contact Ken but I’m a bit nervous starting afresh especially as their sizes don’t appear to correlate to my existing one.

I have this one in the yellow Cobra and the same will go to the project:

Works fine and cheap too.

Thanks for the info Migge,
I've done a quick check and my existing rad's core is a bit bigger in cross sectional area. 178 versus 172 CM2 plus mine is a four core at 63mm deep not 50mm. I don't think I would want to start again with fresh bracketry, ducting and different hoses.
I think that if the sealant I've just ordered doesn't work I will get the existing one repaired having found that there is a radiator repair shop in a nearby town.
Got to be cheaper than a brand new item.

"K Seal" is the best leak stopper I've found in recent years.
