T289R Cobra and Battle Scottish Road Tour

09/09/2021 - 13/09/2021

I am once again organising a Scottish Road trip this year in the hope the world will be in a better place, at least as far as Covid is concerned. Our last tour in 2019 was a great success not least of all because we had fantastic weather for the most part.

I have been thinking hard about the route and now have that clear in my mind. We will base ourselves near Inverness for 3 nights. This very central position allows us to explore further north but also allows us to revisit some favourites from last time.

I have managed to get a quote from the Drumossie Hotel for £115 per person dinner bed and breakfast per night based on two adults sharing a room. There is a £70 supplement for single occupation.

I am sure as soon as things open up accommodation will soon be taken up so I am looking for a quick response from members who wish to book a place. The Drumossie is a large Hotel with a very quiet safe car park for those concerned about their pride and joy.

Please let me know if you are interested and for what type of room. We need to confirm the rooms as soon as we can really. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thursday 9th September

We will meet as before in Stirling for meet and greet dinner. Recommend to book a room at the Holiday Inn Express – Springkerse. It has good parking and we can eat in the pub next door.

Friday 10th September.

Option to visit the Battle of Bannockburn visitor centre in Stirling after breakfast.

11am meet up to begin our road trip north. Destination Inverness via Perth, Blairgowrie, the Cairngorm National park, Braemar to our Hotel near Inverness. It’s a trip of around 120 miles.

Saturday 11th.

Option to visit Battle of Culloden visitor centre.

We will gather and head north west taking in the Cromaty Firth before heading to the west coast and Ullapool for lunch. We return to Inverness and share a meal in the Hotel. Total miles around 160 but with magnificent changing scenery.

Sunday 12th

We will again head west this time to take in Torridon and for those brave enough Applecross and the infamous Bealach na Ba before heading back again to Inverness and our Hotel. This trip will be around 175miles taking in some stunning roads, and amazing scenery with the options to swim in a lock or the sea or both!

Monday 13th

We start to head home leaving our hotel taking the back roads to Fort William via the great glen before Glen Coe and returning to Stirling to go our separate ways. 162 miles.

So in total from Stirling we are looking at around 620miles taking in a large traverse of the whole country.
